Why we exist
Building an ADU is one of the biggest decisions a homeowner can make — and the way you're expected to start is backwards. Most people either cold-call contractors who are, understandably, selling their own services, or hand their details to a lead-generation site that sells them to a dozen companies at once. Either way, the homeowner is the least-informed person in the room, making a six-figure decision without an independent read on whether it even makes sense.
We built United Build Partners to put an advisor in that room first. Before anyone tries to sell you anything, we give you an honest look at what your property can realistically support, what it's likely to cost, and whether the return is there — including a straight "not yet" when that's the real answer. Only if it's a genuine fit do we introduce you to a short list of contractors we've already vetted.
Give homeowners the honest first opinion the ADU process never gave them.
What we believe
Five principles shape every property review and every introduction we make. They're also the reason we can afford to tell you the truth.
How we're different from a lead site
If you've filled out an online form for home projects before, you know the pattern: your phone doesn't stop ringing. We're built to be the opposite of that.
How we make money — in plain sight
The reason we can put your interests first is structural: homeowners don't pay us directly, so we're not trying to sell you a build. Participating contractors compensate UBP when we introduce them to a genuinely qualified homeowner, and they determine their own project pricing independently. There are no hidden homeowner fees and no selling your information to the highest bidder.
We think you should be able to see exactly how that works before you trust us with anything, so we wrote it all down. Read how we make money →
Where we work
We focus exclusively on Southern California ADUs — Los Angeles County, Orange County, and the Inland Empire (San Bernardino and Riverside counties). That focus is deliberate: ADU rules, costs, and rental markets are intensely local, and we'd rather know a handful of counties deeply than claim to cover everywhere.
Check your city
We publish city-specific ADU guidance across our service area, drawn from official municipal sources. See the full service area, or start with the free property review for a read on your specific lot. Questions first? Call 714-705-6901.
